Carissa Fiorot

My name is Carissa Fiorot. I am originally from Des Moines, Iowa but I have lived in Santa Cruz since 2014. My husband is Camba from here in Santa Cruz. We have a 1.5 year old daughter named Emilia and a sweet little baby on the way. At SCCS, I have worked in 2nd grade, 3rd grade, and I am currently a Kindergarten teacher. I have been the Upper Elementary Coordinator for two years now and love being able to be a voice and a partner with fellow teachers and colleagues. Before teaching, I attended the University of Northern Iowa, where I obtained two bachelor's degrees, one in Early Childhood Education and the other in Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish. Following university I went on to obtain an endorsement in English Language Learning (ELL) in the state of Kansas where I worked for 3 years. Just this year in May of 2020 I completed my Master’s Degree in Multidisciplinary Studies from The State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo. As I continue my teaching career at SCCS I am determined to be a teacher that challenges students to meet high expectations and be the best version of themselves every single day. I love what I do and I hope that the students and the parents can see that and feel that with every interaction we make.
