Events at SCCS

At SCCS, student life is vibrant and enriched with a variety of engaging events that foster creativity, collaboration, and academic growth.

Whether through performances, competitions, or appreciation events, there is always something happening that involves the entire community. Below is a list of exciting events that students, staff, and families can look forward to throughout the school year.

Academic Events

  • Math Bowl: A fast-paced math competition where students work in teams to solve challenging problems.
  • Knowledge Bowl: A quiz-style competition that tests students’ knowledge in various academic subjects, encouraging teamwork and quick thinking.
  • Guest Speakers: Inspirational speakers from various fields share their knowledge and experiences with students to broaden their perspectives.
  • Spelling Bee: Elementary students compete to demonstrate their spelling prowess and win the title of top speller.

Arts & Performances

  • Band Concert: Students from our school band will exhibit pieces they’ve rehearsed, showcasing their musical progress and talent.
  • Musical: Students perform in a school-wide musical production, combining acting, singing, and dancing to entertain the audience.
  • Talent Show: Students get the chance to perform and share their unique talents, from singing to magic tricks, in front of their peers.
  • Jaguar Showcases: Each month, the Jaguar Showcase celebrates a different value, such as respect or responsibility, with students receiving special diplomas. During the event, kids also perform in a variety of acts, from singing to skits, making it a fun and engaging experience for all.
  • Concerts: Performances by students in vocal and instrumental music, showcasing their progress and musical accomplishments.
  • Art Exhibitions: A gallery-style event where students display their artistic creations, demonstrating their growth in visual arts.
  • Art Contests: Competitive events where students submit their artistic works to be judged on creativity and technique.

Community Engagement

  • Family Reading Night/Book Fair/Book Club: Families come together to celebrate reading, explore books at the fair, and discuss literature in the book club.
  • Fun Run: A school-wide running event promoting physical fitness and teamwork while raising school spirit.
  • Teacher Appreciation: A special event dedicated to showing gratitude and recognition for the hard work and dedication of teachers.
  •  Award Ceremony: An event that celebrates the achievements and accomplishments of students throughout the year.
  • Halloween Celebration: A fun and festive celebration where students and staff participate in costume contests, games, and Halloween-themed activities.
  • Santa Cruz Day: A day to celebrate local culture and traditions, with activities that embrace the heritage of Santa Cruz.
